Detailed Semen Sales Policies

(1) All semen sales are made directly by George Ramsay (the legal business entity for the farm). We have no other authorized distributor or seller. This applies to semen certificates as well.

(2) All of the semen we have collected from our bulls is sold at commercial prices. Those wishing to register eligible offspring in the Canadian Galloway Association or foreign recognized Galloway associations, for example the American Galloway Breeders Association can purchase Semen Certificates from us at a previously agreed price, as and when needed. Note; that price is usually fixed for 5 years from date of semen sale. GST is applicable on the semen certificate purchase, but not on the semen. We do have a small amount of semen for sale that we have purchased from other breeders, in some cases the purchase price includes the right to register eligible offspring, and in other cases semen certificates are required. Terms and/or conditions for acquiring semen certificates in these cases will be agreed and stated clearly in the sales contract (or invoice or payment correspondence).

(3) Shipping and Handling costs are in all cases at the expense of the purchaser. I.E. Semen sales are FOB the semen storage location involved. All permits, fees, certifications including export certifications are at the expense of the purchaser.

(4) Resale of semen is not permitted except for commercial use. In the case of intergenerational transfers of herd, then the original sales contract will be granted to the new owners if requested.

(5) Guarantees: We do not guarantee any of the following;

  • (a) We do not guarantee that the offspring will be eligible for registration; Breed Associations determine that.
  • (b) We do not guarantee the pregnancy of your breeding females, we only guarantee that the semen supplied is viable and was collected and stored and shipped by qualified and approved professionals.
  • (c) We do not guarantee the suitability of offspring for any specific purpose.
  • (d) We do not guarantee sale value of any offspring.

(6) Conditions and Terms of semen sales will be the foregoing unless agreed otherwise and communicated in sale invoices and/or correspondence.

(7) Semen Releases are only done after semen is paid for.

(8) Semen Cannot be Returned.

(9) Genetic Defects or Abnormalities: If any are encountered, the purchaser has an agreed responsibility to inform us, preferably by phoning, the following up in writing. We will then involve our Veterinarians and other specialists in genetics, diagnostics etc. Once advise is received from such Professionals, we will compensate up to the value of the semen and semen certificates purchased, provided the certificates are returned and the remaining semen is either returned or certified destroyed in a manner agreed between the parties at the time. We will take the necessary steps to ensure that any other previous purchasers of that same semen are contacted and arrangements made with them to prevent further use (if that is what is recommended by the Veterinarians involved).

(10) Invoices are usually emailed.

(11) Mailing Address of Purchaser is required as well as email address.

(12) Payment: Semen can be paid for by Cheque, Cash, Wire (ask for bank details if this option is selected), ETransfer using the email; george@ladywells.ca
